Cruella – A Personal History
On 28th August, 1989 the Miller-Stephan Pontiac & Cadillac Company of Boise, Idaho delivered a brand new Cadillac Coupe De Ville in black colour to a Deborah Hofer of Mountain Home, Idaho.
The De Ville models for that year featured an optional ‘Carriage roof’ which made the car look like a convertible. Other options included Automatic self levelling suspension, full leather interior and a special ‘Gold Key’ edition with gold badges, emblems and keys.
One of only 4,108 2 door Coupe De Villes built that year, costing $28,940.00 and fully loaded with all the latest creature comforts and a powerful 4.5 litre V8 engine. It remained in Idaho until 1997, changing owners only once.
The car was imported into the UK and registered on 3rd November 1997 where it was used for chauffeur driven transportation for oil industry executives when they flew in from the USA.
The car was bought by Spurr Classic Cars in Sheffield and bought by myself in November 2002 when it showed only 72,000 miles. Now in it’s 21st year, in 2010, it remains in immaculate condition with only 83,000 miles and is still powerful, whisper quiet and smooth. The only way to travel.
